Education

Education activities form an intrinsic part of the Biennial’s programme. Throughout the year BPB delivers artist led projects with schools and a diverse range of community groups that seek to engage people in photographic practice and debate.

The BPB 2010 education programme will respond to Martin Parr’s curatorial vision. Multi-platform, artist led projects will present projected, texted, installed, moving, mobile and online photographic images during the Biennial period created by young people from Brighton & Hove and across the South East.

These projects are developed in partnership with other organisations in order to widen and intensify their impact. Through these activities, the Biennial aims to provide opportunities for learning and enjoyment that inspire and support participants’ critical understanding of photography.

Building on the success and the learning from the previous three Biennials, a key feature of the 2010 education programme is the involvement of students from the University of Brighton. Projects utilize the wealth of expertise and talent of Brighton’s student community, setting up opportunities for the development of professional skills, and bringing fresh ideas, and new ways of working into the classroom.
